The Basics
1.) R-E-S-P-E-C-T! You'll get very far with it. Please respect everyone around you - the staff members, the regular members and even the guests. Flaming, trolling, baiting, anything of the sort is not allowed, looked down upon, and we will kill you for doing so. We mean business on this one, yes, SRS BSNS. So, keep it friendly by not discriminating against people, excluding others, or making others feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in general.
2.) ToS states that sites hosted by Proboards cannot have mature material on them. This means no inappropriate/hentai/pornographic pictures. Use a fade to black type of situation if any of your threads becomes over PG-13. Do not bring it to PM's or put it on the site. Just covering our own tails here, guys.
3.) Advertising is not to be done anywhere but in the plug board.
4.) Be active! By all means, we're not pressuring anyone to post everyday - we all have lives to tend to~ You can just post in the games or lurk around, we don't really care. However, please whatever you do, don't make a character, get accepted and suddenly disappear off onto wherever. Site hoppers are highly frowned upon.
5.) Plagiarism will not be tolerated. We do not approve of stealing from others and we will not approve if you steal from us or any member on the site.
6.) FUCK! Yes, cursing is allowed. When it comes to cursing, don't take it too far, occasionally, fine. Just don't get stupid with it. It just makes you look like a fool when you go too far.
7.) No spamming. We will kill you if you make just one word OOC posts, at least try to put in a few words, five or so wouldn't hurt you.
8.) Double-posting is a no. We have an edit button for a reason. We went through the trouble of finding a code that axes that jarring "Last edit by..." message when you do so.
9.) This is an english site, so speak english. No tween talk ("c u l8er" for example), use proper grammar and spelling. Spell Check is a lovely tool, no?

In Character Rules
1.) Do not make yourself out to be a God.
2.) No Godmodding. Godmodding is when you control someone else's character, their reactions to what happens, or deciding if they get hit or not. This rule, however, is void if you manage to get the permission of the person on the receiving end to do such a thing.
3.) No powerplaying. Powerplaying is similar to Godmodding, and even shares some of its qualities, but in a way, affects your character more than the other person's. An example would be effortlessly dodging every hit, even when it makes no sense. Once again, your character is not a God, they are mortal. Be realistic, people.
4.) We all have muse deflation, sometimes our brain just refuses to work with us. But for the love of all that is holy, please try not to do any one liners. If your muse is hurting and you just can't think, we'll excuse the occasional one-liner. But at least try to get a full paragraph in, it's not that difficult.
5.) If you can speak fluent Japanese, Russian or any other foreign language more power to you! However, here on BURN OUT BRIGHTER, proper English does so much in the long run.
6.) Please refrain from making Mary Sues/Gary Stus. Imperfections are beautiful, both physically and when it comes to character's personality. So no perfect characters!
7.) A person's history shapes who they are and what they do. So if your character has a seriously traumatic past, they're not going to be all happy and sunshine and rainbows. Even with amnesia, they wouldn't be completely the same. Wanna play them happy and cheerful anyway? They should be a damn good actor/liar/both. Still confused? See Masaomi Kida or Mikado Ryuugamine~
8.) Likewise, a character's skillset often reflects their personalities. Restrictions will not be implemented for now, but if I see a crapton of beacons of light and sunshine with Death and Doom in their movesets, we will make this an actual rule.
9.) STAY IN CHARACTER! Please do not change your character's personality around once accepted. Personality develop is encouraged but, if your character has the nature of being sad then he probably won't be skipping in a bunch of flowers. Just saying.

OCC Character Restrictions
1.) You can have as many characters as you desire, but you have to be active with them. Seriously, be active, with every last one of them, but this is up to you. I've seen people stick with only one character, I've seen some go for 10+ characters and actually keep them all active.
2.) One account per character.
3.) We are an anime/manga roleplay. Face claims are to be only from an anime/manga. Anything that is an original artwork or something that's consider 3D is highly frowned upon and will not be listed in the Face Claim listing. Please use 2D fanart for those 3D games such as final fantasy so it blends in with the rest of the site.
4.) If you're going to play a canon character, play them right.
5.) Your character cannot be related to a canon. End of story.
6.) You cannot deus ex machina either. If your character suddenly gets a power at a crucial moment, it better be on their skillset.
7.) Post with the character at least once every two weeks. Otherwise they'll be moved to the Dead/Inactive board. Canons will be freed up.
8.) In addition to the above rule, if you lose a canon due to not posting once every two weeks, and you want that canon back, then you have to redo the entire application once again. No copy and pastes of the previously used application will be accepted.
9.) When creating a canon, try not to copy-paste from the DURARARA!! wiki. Using it as a reference is fine.
10.) Cbawks is a privilege - not a right. Treat our little dear with care.
11.) Images on BoB should not stretch the page.
- Avatars should be only 100x100 pixels, nothing less, nothing more.
- Signatures are optional, however, if you do decide to use them please do not let them stretch the board and keep them within the width of 500px. The height should be 350px max. It should be okay as long as it doesn't stretch the board or disturb others.
