APPEARANCE,
Freya is seen as a rather attractive young woman, but most of her compliments are given by her husband. Her skin tone is rather pale, a light ivory that is often odds with her habit of constantly being outside much of the time. Her hair is cut in a layered style, the pink locks falling toward the middle of her back. Swept over her left shoulder, the tendrils fall in loose curls. Her bangs are swept to the side, falling into her icy blue eyes. Freya‘s eyes are one of her more fascinating features, hardly showing any emotion if she can help it. The most common emotions seen are annoyance, affection, and anger. Her face is heart-shaped, with high cheekbones, an aquiline nose, and full lips. Her body is slender, but well-toned from countless centuries spent as a Valkyrie in battle. Freya stands at an imposing five feet and ten inches, standing taller than most females, and a few men as well. One of her most visual features are her legs, toned and carrying most of her height.
Freya prefers her clothing to be form fitting and easy to move in, though she hardly notices that she does show off her decent curves in the process. Her weight, well, is something she will never tell a living soul. [Even she is touchy about that.] Her main outfit consists of a tight, low necked black sleeveless top that ties in the front, ending above her midriff. Her jeans are skinny and are stylized with rips and tears all along the front. Knee length black boots that are buckled along the front consists of her footwear.
ITEMS,
Ring: The engagement ring Alex presented to her years ago, and she has kept it on since the night he proposed. The ring is designed to resemble a rose offset with diamonds, and Freyja loved the thought that went behind it, because roses have always been her favorite flower.
Gram: Gram, the sword that Odin struck into the Branstock tree which only Sigmund the Volsung was able to pull out. It broke in battle with Odin but was later reforged by Sigmund's son Siegfried and used it to slay the dragon Fafnir. After being reforged, it could cleave an anvil in half, and the sword was eventually presented to Freyja by Siegfried long ago. It is her personal blade, and can only be wielded by her hand. It is summoned to her hand the moment she enters her Valkyrie form.
Rose Seal: Freyja’s powers were sealed from her, but not all of them were taken from her by the irate Odin. Crystallized and within her possession is a well of where her now paled powers remain confined. She can materialize this crystal from her body, and shattering the crystal releases her remaining powers as she enters into her true form. Granted the armor she had held for centuries and her trusted blade, Freyja becomes the battle maiden she has always been.
Daggers: Nothing overly special about these daggers besides the fact that Freyja keeps them on her for protection. Kept within the sheathe specially made on the sides of her boots, she keeps these on hand for when someone decides to try and get handsy with her.
SKILLSET,
Sigrun: The one thing that Freyja has kept from her former life, and the one constant companion she has had beside her over the centuries. Legends speak of the battle maidens that were associated with some sort of animal: horses, swans, or ravens. Sigrun happens to be a couple of those; although, she prefers the form of a raven the best. Sure, it is rather odd to see Freyja with a raven perched upon her shoulder, but her familiar does as she pleases. Sigrun also has the ability to turn into Freyja’s mount in the heat of battle that can take her to where she needs. Sure, transforming into a giant horse for her to ride on is rather conspicuous, but she only does so in emergencies. She can also turn into a motorcycle as a much less inconspicuous means of travel.
Valkyrie: Freyja can enter her true form with what remaining powers left to her, and her armor and blade are called into her hand. She is formidable in this form, and her strength increases well above that of the average mortal man. Her natural acrobatics appear to be more naturally inclined, and her centuries of battle experience are hard to cut through.
HISTORY,
Freyja’s history is a very long and violent one. Well, not all of it is violent, but much of her time was spent upon the battlefields of old. How she came to be is even unknown by herself, and all she remembers is receiving Odin’s blessing and becoming the first Valkyrie and the leader of her small order of battle maidens of death. Countless centuries were spent searching out brave and strong souls to add to the collection that would grace the bountiful halls of Valhalla. Her authority was absolute over her own realm, and Freyja answered to no one but Odin himself. She received half of the souls sent back to reside in Valhalla, and she was allowed first choice above even Odin. Her powers grew as she became more trusted by the god, and she was granted invulnerability, clairvoyance, among other powers in addition to her immortality. It was a role the Valkyrie contented herself for her long life, and when not out upon the battlefields on Odin’s bidding, then she would be gracing the chosen warriors by pouring them ale during their nightly feasts.
It was an existence Freyja had grown used to over the centuries, but it seemed the realm of mortals changed so much each time she visited a battlefield to collects more souls for Valhalla. Mortals had always been an interesting focal point for Freyja, and she marveled over their strong will and constant need to conquer what was around them. It was no different for her when she had left her realm to bring more brave souls back with her, but what made this different was that one mortal was neither dead nor dying. For reasons that Freyja cannot understand to this day, a mortal by the name of Alexander Sorel had stumbled upon her over the form of a dying male and attacked her without much preamble. With Freyja garbed in her armor and sword and shield, she wondered if the mortal was just plain idiotic to attack a Valkyrie. Honestly, the entirety of the battle had been little more than child’s play for the woman. Sure, he was skilled for a human, but her invulnerability gave her little to fear. Freyja played with Alexander like a cat lazily chasing after her prey, and it was evident that the mortal knew he was of little match for the battle maiden.
Of course, Freyja had not expected the tables to be turned upon her. Before she could notice what had happened, he had drawn a gun and shot her with it. It did not faze her at first, because the bullet had gone through her arm, and it was not her dominant one. What did surprise her was when the wound did not heal immediately, and Freyja felt the curious sensation of having an important part of her drained. For the first time in her existence the Valkyrie felt fatigue in battle, and somehow the smug look of her opponent only enraged her. Somehow the idiot had drained her invulnerability and had rendered her powers useless for the time being. Her reckless nature came through, and she rushed at the male with killer intent. Somehow he had managed to block her assault, and had plucked a prized feather from the side skirt that cloaked the right side of her body. It had been a complete and utter accident from the surprised look on his feature, and it only made the woman more mad. Freyja was the Mistress of the Slain, the head Valkyrie, and she had been rendered powerless and in the thrall of a mortal. Any that managed to pluck the feather from a battle maiden were owed a wish, and so her life was bound to this mortal until she had fulfilled his desire. With little choice Freyja dropped to her knees before her startled opponent, and she pledged her life and loyalty to him until his wish was granted. Valhalla was now denied to her, and she had little choice but to remain in the mortal realm until Alexander released her from her oath.
The maiden of death was not happy with her arrangement, and she made sure to let Alexander know that every time she could. His disposition was never angry with her, and his blatant kindness toward her only made her more angry. He went out of his way to make sure she was comfortable, and he would explain things about the mortal realm she did not understand. Freyja tried to keep her anger and hatred for him, but his insistent kindness managed to melt the ice she surrounded around her heart. It only took a little over a year for her to fall in love with him, and she hated herself for it. She had lived for centuries, had taken a vow to remain chaste in the eyes of Odin, and yet this simple mortal had managed to win her over in the blink of an eye. It baffled her so much, and Freyja continued to hide her feelings behind sharp words and anger. Eventually Alexander admitted his own feelings for her, and asked her to marry him without further preamble. It was the most surprising moment in her long life, and what surprised her more was her immediate answer of yes. Wait, what? It had never needed much thought, because he had never taken advantage of her pledged loyalty to him, and her happiness seemed to mean the world to him. How could she say no to him?
Freyja became bound to Alexander in a more mortal and intimate manner, and that was perhaps when all hell broke loose completely. Even while her services had been given to him, she had still retained her complete powers as a Valkyrie. She broke the one command she had been given by Odin, and that was to remain chaste and obey him without question. That went out the window the moment her honeymoon night arrived. The next morning found the maiden weak and nearly lifeless, because the god had taken his wrath on Freyja by binding most of her powers and ridding her of the invulnerability that had protected her. He left her with her immortality, and some of her abilities should she ever return to Valhalla. Even with his wrath brought upon her, she was left with some mercy because she was his first. Alexander did not leave her side while she recovered from the damage having her powers sealed caused her. Freyja did not blame him, because she had chosen to give herself to a mortal, and she promised him that his would be the last soul she took with her to Valhalla when his time upon the mortal plane came to an end.
Married life was happy enough for her, and Freyja contented herself with spending her time with her new husband and running his credit cards dry with her tendencies to over shop. She adored the clothing mortals always came out with, and she also bought countless swords to satisfy her love for battle. Freyja was soon discontented after a few years, because her senses were bothering her. Valkyries had always been drawn to areas of battle and violence, and her instincts were telling her to go to Japan. It was something she could not ignore, and so Alexander packed up their entire life to follow his wife to Ikebukuro in Japan to satisfy her need to be close to battle. That is where the Valkyrie has found herself now, and she has settled into this new life with her husband easily enough.
EXTRAS,
Freyja is a bit of a shopaholic, and really loves shopping for clothing more than she should, so she is always in something new. The feathers on her armor are no longer potent, so anyone that grabs them to try and get a wish are out of luck. She is an extremely light sleeper, so it is unwise to wake her up unless a dagger at your throat is your kind of thing. Freyja typically goes by Freya since her name seems harder for people to pronounce most of the time.
